Legacy Modernizer supports the extraction of business rules from Adabas/Natural, Assembler, C, COBOL and Pacbase code by abstracting the source into a standard XML format. This product then provides a web-based platform to enhance and optimize the captured business rule, re-architect the code into SOA components and generate native C#, VB.Net, Java or COBOL code. The Java code may be transported as UML Models using a third party plug-in module. Alternately, the underlying XML may be exported to Business Rules Engines and Modeling Tools like CA Gen.

The discovery and documentation phase results in the extraction to 100% of the source data model, program logic and business rules. This information is hosted on a web-based platform for review and annotation.

During the optimization and modernization phase the web-based platform is used to upload replacement functions and data model, enhance readability of the extracted business rules, optimize them to suit the target needs, and generate a modern architecture by defining and creating service components and models.

In the transformation or migration phase, Legacy Modernizer either generates native target code, up to 95% complete, from the optimized, modernized and re-architected business rules or exports the underlying XML into Business Rules Engines, BPM tools or Modeling tools.
