Setting up Windows 2003 Server R2 for S2T Modernization Console

NOTE: The S2T Modernization Console must be installed and configured on a server running Windows 2003 R2 operating system. This task may only be executed by the system administrator.
Setting up the Host Environment:
The S2T Modernization Console installs on Windows’ web server and requires permission to execute user requests received over the web.
- To set this permission, login to the host server as an administrator and double click on:
Start --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Internet Information Services Manager
as shown in Figure 1 below.

- Then double click on the (local computer) entry to display the Web Sites folder as shown in Figure 2 below.

Double click on Web Sites to display the Default Web Site. Then right-click on Default Web Site and select Permissions to open the pop-up dialog box that is shown in Figure 3 below.

Ensure that all the users listed in this dialog box have Full Control permission
i.e. the Allow check box is tick-marked for Full Control access for all users.
- Register the ASP.Net 1.1 framework as well as the ASP.Net 2.0 or higher framework with Internet Information Services (IIS) as follows:
- Click on Start -> Run in Windows’ menu and type in cmd in the DOS Command Prompt window. Then click on OK.
- In the DOS command screen type the following command to go to the .Net framework 1.1 folder:
cd C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322
- In that folder type in the following to register that framework:
aspnet_regiis –ir -enable
- Then type the following command to go to the .Net 2.0 framework:
cd C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
If a higher level .Net framework is installed that 2.0, replace
2.0.50727 in the above command appropriately.
- In that folder type in the following to register that framework:
aspnet_regiis –ir -enable
The S2T Modernization Console is now ready to be invoked. Double-click on
Start -> S2T Automation Tools -> S2T Modernization Console
in Windows’ menu to invoke the console and request a license key for the same.
Troubleshooting Tips:
Setting up the Host Environment
- If the host environment has been set up correctly as per the instructions above and yet the console is unable to process user requests, right click on the S2T Automation Tools folder in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ and select Sharing. In the pop-up dialog box that is displayed, share the S2T Automation Tools folder with full control assigned to all users.
