This document describes the steps to install Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 edition.

SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 Not sure what you need from your Microsoft SQL Server download and want to get started quickly? Download the SQL Server Express database engine and Management Studio Express. Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express EditionMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is the free, easy-to-use, lightweight version of SQL Server 2005. Integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server Express makes it easy to develop data-driven applications that are rich in capability, offer enhanced storage security, and are fast to deploy. SQL Server Express is free to redistribute and can be seamlessly upgraded to more sophisticated versions of SQL Server. Download * (36.5 MB) SQL Server Management Studio ExpressSQL Server Management Studio Express is installed by running the setup program for either SQL Server Express with Advanced Services or SQL Server Express Toolkit. Before you install SQL Server Management Studio Express, you must install MSXML 6.0. Download ** (43.1 MB)
Step 2: Setup for SQL Server
1. Once SQL Express has been downloaded, click on SQLEXPR32.EXE
2. Review and accept the license agreement if it can be complied with. Then click on Next
3. On the Feature selection screen below click on Client Components (Install on local drive option) and Connectivity Components
4. The same screen with Client Components and Connectivity Components selected will look as shown below:
5. Click on Next to continue. On the Authentication Mode screen select Mixed Authentication. Enter a password. This password will be required when installing S2T Automation Products – Legacy Rejuvenator or Modernization Console.
6. Click on Next to continue. On the Configuration Options screen choose the default options as shown below and once again click on Next to continue.
7. On the Error and Usage Report Settings screen leave all options unchecked as shown below and click on Next to continue.
8. Review the options selected in the screen below and click on Install.
9. Once installation is complete the screen below will be displayed.
Click on Finish to exit. Step 3: Setup Management Console
1. Double-click on SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi file downloaded from the link specified earlier in this document
2. Review and accept the license agreement if it can be complied with. Then click on Next
3. Select the Management Studio Express option and click on Next.
4. In the screen that follows click on Install.
5. After installation, you will see a new item in your Programs group:
· Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Within this item there will be two options:
· Configuration · SQL Server Management Studio Express
This concludes the installation of SQL Server 2005 Express edition. Step 4 (Optional): Test SQL Server installation
1. Go to Start --> Programs --> - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 --> SQL Server Management Studio Express and click on that option.
2. In the dialog box that is displayed below select Authentication as SQL Server Authentication (default is Windows). Enter username as “sa” and type in the password you had selected when installing the database.
3. Then click on Connect. This should bring up the following screen,
showing that you have successfully connected to the installed SQL
Server.
